Hello! I have been learning about Sikhi, please forgive my ignorance. I live in Cornwall and have so many questions I want to ask but there are no Gurdwara anywhere here, I don't think I've seen a single Sikh here! I am 31 years old and was raised in a secular family where religion played no role at all, and its only been in the last year or so that I found Sikhi and its just filling in all the holes and making so much sense to me, something other religions have never been able to do. I am not a practising Sikh just yet, although I plan to be in the future when I understand more. I only just found this website, I had given up hope that there would be any Sikh communities near me. I am going to try my best to attend your next meeting and I hope you don't mind me asking a ton of questions! So happy to have found somewhere, its so hard for me to learn about Sikhi as I only read english. I have been watching youtube channels, both Basics of Sikhi and Nanak Naam but its just not the same as speaking to people myself. I have a question regarding Dastaar. I think I am ready to buy and start wearing my first Dastaar. I have been growing my hair for 14 months now and its not very long yet (I used to shave my head bald up until this) and don't know what length material I should buy. Please consider that I am also autistic and have sensory problems (growing hair and beard was a BIG issue for me, but I was dedicated and wanted to do it) so I think the best material would be Mal Mal around 4m long, but please advise if this would be wrong for my first one. Also I have no idea how to tie them, I have watched youtube videos but growing up completely out of the culture I have no idea really! Are there any specific styles which do not cover your ears? I think this will be best for me to get started and grow. Thank you for reading.
